The ENSA Program supports school-exchange-projects between schools in Germany and partners in developing countries or countries in transition. ENSA promotes educational exchange between Germany and states in Africa, Asia, Latin America and South Eastern Europe committed to developmental issues. On the one hand, ENSA offers financial support for travel expenses and stay, on the other, ENSA supports the school groups pedagogically with preparation and follow-up seminars. The young people’s feedback shows that the projects and educational exchanges not only allow them to develop new competences, but also to understand what abstract terms such as “global dependencies” really imply.

Participation and Application in the ENSA Program
ENSA accepts all schools, supporting associations, PTOs and NGOs that work together with schools as applicants for their funding. Projects in which schools and NGOs work together are most likely to receive a financial and educational support from the ENSA program. Special consideration is given to applications of young adults from disadvantaged areas in Germany or with poor access to education and training. Read more about participation in the ENSA Program.
Themes of the ENSA Program
The ENSA program operates in context with the UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development which encourages people to contribute to the future and shape of the World Society and help actively and responsibly in their countries. In the same way ENSA encourages all students and teachers in the south and north to promote developmental issues and give their talent for the realisation of a sustainable future all over the world. Educational Guidance
We value a high-quality educational monitoring very much. The schools or the accompanying NGOs are mainly responsible for the preparation and follow-up seminars. A sound educational guidance includes that the meetings are pursued thoroughly. In general the school performs this job in collaboration with the associated NGO, in individual cases it carries it by herself. Read more about the educational guidance.
Further Information
ENSA is commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) administers ENSA on behalf of the BMZ. GIZ is a non-profit organisation with worldwide operations dedicated to human resource development, advanced training, and dialogue. For further information visit www.giz.de/en.
ENSA is a program in constant progress. This means that the experiences made with the different participant players contribute to the further development of the program. In this way, ENSA is sure to react to the always changing demands of our modern society.
